Warning Description: Winter Weather Advisory
Warning Date: 11:01 PM EST on February 8, 2010
WarningSum:...Winter Weather Advisory Remains In Effect Until 4 Pm Est
Tuesday...
Warning Message:A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 4 PM EST
Tuesday.
* Timing: precipitation may start as a rain snow mix before
changing to snow overnight. Light freezing rain may occur late
tonight into early Tuesday morning.
* Accumulations: snow accumulations of 1 to 4 inches is expected
but locally higher amounts will be possible. Ice accumulations
should be light.
* Impacts: snow and ice may accumulate on the roads making
travel difficult.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow...sleet...
and/or freezing rain are expected or occurring...but
accumulations are expected to be light. Driving and walking may
be difficult on untreated roadways and sidewalks. Be prepared for
snow and ice covered roads and limited visibilities. If you must
travel...slow down and allow extra time to reach your
destination.

WarningSum:...Surge Of Colder Air To Push In Tue Night And Wednesday Along
With Snow Showers And Gusty Winds...
Warning Message:A surge of much colder air will push in Tue night and Wednesday on
gusty west to northwest winds. Snow showers and flurries can be
expected over valley locations Tue night into Wednesday night.
Numerous snow showers can be expected over the normally favored
higher elevation areas of southwest Virginia as well as the
northern mountains and Smoky Mountains of east Tennessee...with
significant snow accumulations possible in these areas from Tuesday
night into Wednesday night.
Winds will increase and will gust to over 30 mph at times in the
valleys...with gusts in excess of 4o mph over the higher
elevations Tuesday night and Wednesday. Winds should begin to
diminish Wed night. The winds will combine with the colder
temperatures to lower wind chill values into the teens and single
digits at times over valley locations...with wind chill values
below zero at times over the higher elevations.
